Many years ago I was in a great fight for one that I love more
than myself. This person needed a home to live in. During the
very lowest point I felt that my faith and confidence was
slipping away. In desperation I turned to the Bible, and saw
these words, "In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence and
his children shall have a place of refuge." Proverbs 14:26.


In that very moment I knew God was speaking to me directly. What
really stood out to me were the words, "Strong confidence." God
was asking me to not only to have confidence in Him. But to have
STRONG confidence in Him for a place of refuge for the one I so
deeply loved. Soon after that prayer of strong confidence was
wonderfully answered. That word became a forever spiritual
foundation for all and everything I have ever went forth to pray
for and forever will be.


There is limited help in the confidence we place on people and
things. But there is a dependable, faithful "strong confidence"
that we can place on Jesus Christ. Paul said, "We are they who
put no confidence in the flesh."


If we only put confidence in the flesh, then only things will be
limited to the flesh. But if we put confidence in the Spirit,
then we will receive things of the Spirit of God. Things that are
enduring, that bring great rejoicing "if we hold firm to the end
the confidence we have received from the beginning."
