I was reading in 2 Samuel chapter 6 about King David when he
wanted to bring back the ark of God to Jerusalem. He took 30,000
of his army.


He had "new cart" made for it to be carried back. He had the two
sons of Abinadab, Uzzah and Ahio drive the cart.


Then "David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on
all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on
psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.


Just as things were looking glorious, "when they came to Nachon's
threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and
took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.


And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God
smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of
God."


Then was "David was displeased, because the Lord had made a
breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perezuzzah
to this day. And David was afraid of the Lord that day, and said,
How shall the ark of the Lord come to me?"


How often have many taken upon themselves to build new carts for
the work of the Lord. To invent instruments and praises never
commissioned to them? A spiritual death takes place in all kinds
of presumed works taken up.


Be careful about anything that looks spiritually good. Never put
forth your hand to anything and take hold of it if God has not
chosen you to do it.


Wait for the Lord in the "fear of the Lord which is His
treasure." Do everything His way and not yours. The ark of God
will then come and rest in your house like Obed-Edom.


The Lord blessed His home, all of his household and all that
pertained to him. There is terror or there is fear in the
responsibility of being obedient to His procedures.
