1.23 William Goldberg, Oak & Grist

William Goldberg, founder of Oak & Grist, is an artisan
first.  With a natural curiosity for craft and dogged
determination to create a product “the right way”, William holds
himself to the highest of standards; his own.  Under the
guidance of a retired Scottish master distiller, William tips his
cap to the past traditions while carving his own, new path
forward. The results are delicately balanced spirits brewed,
fermented, distilled and aged all under one roof.
Firmly planted in the hills of Black Mountain, NC, Oak &
Grist is Western North Carolina’s first grain-to-glass
distillery.  The flagship spirit is a 3 year single malt
whiskey with their goals to have  a 10 and 20 year. 
William has set is sights on creating a community of local
farmers, suppliers and consumers to support and better all
involved.  William is a compassionate entrepreneur and as
pleasant as the mountains he calls home. If you’re ever in the
Asheville, NC area give the distillery a visit.  There’s
tours, a tasting room and special events regularly on the
