The Significance of Celebrating Pentecost (literally means 50)
Sunday is to remember our calling to spread the Gospel.
The Power of The Spirit is available to all believers. Luke 24:49
- "And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you.
But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on
high." When the Holy Spirit descends on a believer it usually a
"suddenly" and often times we have to wait.
We must have need of the Spirit to experience the saving power. 2
Corinthians 12:9 - "But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient
for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I
will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the
power of Christ may rest upon me."
We ask for The Spirit. Mark 11:9-13 - "And I tell you, ask, and
it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it
will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the
one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead
of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give
him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good
gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father
give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"
