Paul Mann shares his knowledge on all things boatbuilding, from
classic methods to hull shape to new materials. Find out what it

25 years old, Paul Mann splashed his first custom sportfish, using
the skills and know-how he picked up from some of the best-known
Carolina boatbuilders of the day. That first boat, the Madd Hatter,
was Paul’s dream boat and he fished it as a charter captain. But
once people saw the boat leading the pack through the treacherous
inlets, interest grew. He began to focus on boatbuilding full time
and 30-something years later. Thirty-plus years later, Paul has
decided it’s time to hang up his sanding block. He sits down with
