ABOUT AKON :


Akon is a master and all round talent in which he has formulated
the bridge between music, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. His
three years in jail saw him begin to recognize his music
abilities and develop an appreciation for his musical background.
He then rose to prominence in 2004 following the release of his
single Locked Up which was the first single from his debut album
Trouble, followed by the second single Lonely. During his music
career he founded two successful record labels, Konvict Muzik and
KonLive Distribution. Co signing artists such as Lady Gaga,
T-Pain, R. City and Kardinal Offishall. He created history by
being the first solo artist to hold both the number one and two
spots simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 charts twice. He
has had four songs certified as 3× platinum, three songs
certified as 2× platinum, more than ten songs certified as 1×
platinum and more than ten songs certified as gold in digital
sales. With his talent and gift he often provides vocals as a
featured artist and is currently credited with over 300 guest
appearances and more than 35 Billboard Hot 100 songs, resulting
in five Grammy Awards nominations. He has released six solo
albums, Alongside this, he also produced records mainly for
artists on his respective labels, as well as for other artists
such as Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Lionel Richie, Leona Lewis,
Sean Paul and Whitney Houston. He also started a project with the
backing from China of 1 Billion dollars helping light up Africa
in 2014 in which he helped provide electricity in 15 countries of
Africa to 16 million people. He also launched his own charity for
underprivileged children in Africa called Konfidence Foundation.
In 2018, Akon announced he was working with the Senegalese
government to build a tourist-city with a cryptocurrency-based
economy named Akon City. And in June 2020 it was announced that
the engineering and consulting firm KE International had been
awarded a $6 billion contract to build the city.
