Episode 23 - The Notebook

Happy Valentine's Day! In honor of this special occasion, we
discuss a movie that puts the romance back into terminal
dementia, Nicholas Sparks's "The Notebook." It's the third time
we've covered an MTV Movie Award winner for Best Kiss, but it
won't be the last. We're talking to you, "Shakespeare in Love."


Rachel McAdams plays Allie Hamilton, a Southern belle with no
trace of an accent whatsoever who attracts one GQ cover model
after the next. She likes to paint, but that's about all of the
character development we get from her.


Ryan Gosling plays Noah Calhoun, a poor blue-collar guy with only
a giant mansion to his name. He can quote poetry, write daily
love letters and do a bunch of other sappy romance novel
stuff. You know, as all Southern backwater lumberyard
workers do.


The moral of the story is that you should break up with your
successful and charming beau in favor of an angry construction
worker with borderline personality disorder because you used to
like each other back in high school.
