Timeless advice from Thomas Samuelson, CFA, CMT, Chief Investment
Officer, of Vineyard Global Advisors, with over $500M AUM.
Tom Samuelson is the chief architect behind Vineyard Global
Advisors’ innovative investment approach, which provides clients
a means to participate in market growth while offering a
framework of protection during significant market declines.
He is a firm believer that investment risk comes hand-in-hand
with investment opportunity. The firm’s dynamic risk management
process adjusts the level of investment risk exposure to what may
be more appropriate within the prevailing economic environment.
Simply put, this dynamic risk management process seeks portfolios
that tend to experience “lower highs,” but more
importantly, “higher lows,” thereby better keeping clients on
track toward meeting their personal financial goals.
Tom is currently one of just 269 investment professionals
worldwide who have earned both the Chartered Financial Analyst
(CFA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations.
Prior to co-founding Vineyard Global Advisors, he served as
Managing Director, Chief Investment Officer & Senior
Portfolio Manager for First Allied Asset Management. In that
role, Tom was responsible for managing $1.3 billion in AUM.
Additionally, Tom has previously managed funds for the University
of Notre Dame’s endowment, O’Connor &; Associates/Swiss Bank
and was lead Portfolio Manager of Invesco’s energy mutual fund,
where he improved performance and oversaw asset growth from $50
million to over $330 million.
He began his investment career in Chicago as an equity and
high-yield bond analyst for Duff & Phelps, where he
became a partner of the firm.
Tom received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering and MBA from
the University of Tulsa.
