Sophocles: Greatest of the Greek Dramatists

Sophocles was Greece's most prolific playwright. He wrote 125
plays, of which only seven have survived. He revolutionized
theater by introducing a third character as well as scenery. His
heroic characters Oedipus and Antigone dramatize free will over
fatalism.
