As a culture we struggle to know what to do with our grief and
pain. We lack social practices and a shared vocabulary of grief
to help us to make our way through it. This lecture will be a
consideration of some of the Bible's poetry of pain, the book of
Lamentations, to see what surprising and unasked-for help it
might offer us.
