Today we have Anas Afana and Stella Bellow, authors of: Destined
to Fail: A Memoir of Resilience, a story of resilience, personal
growth, and grit. Anas, the son of a Jordanian diplomat, grew up
during tumultuous riots that struck Sudan during the 1980s. Then
at just 17 years old, his father brought him to the US and left
him to fend for himself. With little knowledge of English and
thousands of miles away from his home, Anas had to grow up fast.
Through this tale of a refusal to fail, Anas’ story is
awe-inspiring; Anas proves that one can achieve anything through
resilience. With the help of Stella, Anas was able to take his
memories and turn them into this memoir. Through hours of
painstaking interviews, Stella was the pencil Anas needed to echo
his voice.


Anas owns a business in Omaha, Nebraska and has two grown-up
children, Nader and Danah. He travels between America’s Heartland
and Denver, where he spends time with his wife, Natasha. Stella
is an artist and writer with a BFA in Illustration and Literature
from Parsons and The New School.
