Thank you for joining us for another episode of the Low Carb MD
Podcast. Dr. Jacob Mey is a leading expert in human nutrition and
metabolism. He obtained his PhD from the University of Illinois,
at Chicago in Kinesiology, Nutrition and Rehabilitation Sciences.
He currently works in a research lab that investigates the impact
of nutrition on whole-body and skeletal muscle metabolism. Dr.
Mey uses clinical-translational research approaches to understand
the links between nutrition and health. He is also a registered
and licensed dietitian.

In this discussion, Brian, Tro, and Jacob talk about the role of
carbohydrates in the diets of various types of individuals, the
impact of botanical compounds on metabolic syndrome, food
restriction as a behavior in humans and animals, the potential
benefits of taking “diet holidays,” processed food addiction,
research on exogenous ketones and fasting ketone levels, a recent
research study comparing a whole grain diet and a refined grain
diet, and the carnivore diet and reports from individuals on
their self-perception of its benefits.
