Growing as a Travel Creator With @lostgirls_world | Episode 51

In June 2006, three friends and media professionals Jennifer
Baggett, Holly Corbett and Amanda Pressner—made a collective pact
to quit their jobs and embark upon the ultimate adventure: a
year-long, around-the-world trip.


This was well before “The Great Resignation” and the trend of
employees leaving their jobs in droves to better align their work
with their values and what matters most.


After nearly two years of planning and saving by taking freelance
assignments and selling some of their belongings, the three women
journeyed across four continents and more than a dozen countries.
They shared their experiences with other aspiring vagabonds on
their blog, LostGirlsWorld.com.


At its height, LostGirlsWorld.com received nearly 40,000 unique
visitors a month looking for destination information and stories
of inspiration. LostGirlsWorld.com was recognized as Winner of
the 2007 Travvies Award for “Best Group Written Travel Blog” and
a Finalist in both the  2007 Blogger’s Choice Awards and
2008 Weblog Awards.


In 2008, the three women signed on with HarperCollins to turn
their tales into a travel memoir, which hit shelves in May 2010.
Soon after, the entertainment rights to the book were purchased
by Warner Bros. Studio as a feature film and later by producer
Jerry Bruckheimer as a scripted television series.


Today, more than 15 years after their year-long adventure,
they’ve continued to fulfill their pact to each other: To take
one trip a year together for the rest of our lives. Rather than a
three-week dive trip to Borneo, today it might only be a weekend
away near their hometown, but they’ve always stayed committed to
their promise.
