Our investigators convene for luncheon and to apprise each other
of information gathered from The Pacific Club and the local art
dealers. Neither filled in the blanks regarding the late Charles
Gladstone’s final days, but they do have addresses for the
composer he worked with and the artist’s collective that employed
him, as well as the news that he spent his leisure hours in the
gambling dens and brothels of Whitechapel. His work associates
first, perhaps. Business before pleasure and all that. Bound to
be the more respectable option.
