Jesus said, “unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of
God.” Born physically at birth and born again spiritually at
conversion. Paul in his letter to the Galatians is pointing to this
born again salvation as a work that only God can do. We should not
go back to the old way of doing it our way when God’s way has been
so graciously provided. As Paul wraps up this section of scripture,
he uses a famous story from Genesis to point the readers to the
Gospel of peace. (If you’re not familiar with the story of Abraham
and Sarah, read Genesis 12-22 before Sunday. These chapters would
have been well known to the Jewish believers in the 1stC. and are
important background for the passage.)
