#每日一字：主權國家怎麼說？

昨天是中共一百週年黨慶，習近平在演說中重申對於美國為首的西方國家，他們絕不接受「教師爺般頤指氣使說教」 (sanctimonious
preaching)，以及「解決台灣問題、實現祖國完全統一
(unification)」的相關談話。而BBC特別提到台灣將自己視為「主權國家」，英文要怎麼說呢？ ️
sovereign (adj.) （國家）有主權的；完全獨立的 having independent authority
and the right to govern itself sovereign 這個字是從拉丁字根 super 表示 over
在上方，以及reign 當作動詞使用，代表統治；當政的意思，兩者結合而來。所以sovereign與至高無上的權力統治有關。
