跟源於韓國的跆拳道搞混了，有別於以手部動作為主的空手道，跆拳道以腿部動作為主。出生於跆拳道世家，19歲的羅嘉翎在7月26日拿下銅牌，為本屆奧運台灣的第二面獎牌。

跆拳道是源自於韓國的運動，於1988漢城(首爾)奧運加入比賽項目之一，是一個外來字(loanword)，同樣從韓語傳入英語的外來字還有：Hapkido合氣道，Chaebol財閥，Kimchi泡菜，Soju燒酒。
