After a PHD in computer architecture at Cambridge, followed by a
move into the semiconductor industry, Rosemary Francis found
herself wanting more. So, she set out on her own to fix the
problems she’d encountered during her career. Ellexus was born,
creating tools for I/O diagnostics, optimization, and dependency
detection for high-performance computing at large enterprises.
Things took off around the time she gave birth to her first
child, and Ellexus went on to an incredible exit in 2020. In this
episode you’ll hear an honest account of what it can be like to
be a female CEO at just 26, how to avoid costly mistakes in early
hiring, and get thinking about gender stereotypes in popular
culture and play.
