The term "trauma" has become a buzzword in the coaching industry
and the personal development space, to the point where it has
lost its true meaning.

Many people now use the term to describe any distressing
experience, undermining the severity and impact of true trauma.
This overuse of the word not only dilutes its meaning but also
undermines our own resilience.

Coaching is not a modality to heal trauma, and coaches should not
attempt to coach clients through trauma. If a client presents
with trauma, it is the ethical duty of the coach to refer them to
a therapist who is trained to handle trauma.

While coaching is not designed to address trauma, it can still be
incredibly valuable in helping clients navigate emotional pain
and distress. Coaches can support clients through fear, anxiety,
confusion, overwhelm, frustration, and shame. Coaching provides a
space for clients to explore their emotions, gain clarity, and
develop strategies to move forward.

In this episode, we explore what trauma is and the role it plays
in a coach-client relationship.
