Today's Episode Dr. Raj talks with Dr. Gabriel Zada about his
journey to Neurological Surgery, types of pituitary tumors, as well
their diagnoses and treatments for each type. Today's
Guest Dr. Gabriel Zada is a neurosurgeon and professor of
neurological surgery, otolaryngology , and internal medicine
at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. He is a director of the USC
Brain Tumor Center and co-director of the USC Pituitary Center and
USC Radiosurgery Center. He is a NIH-funded research scientist
whose laboratory focuses on brain tumor genomics and medical device
development. Dr Zada serves as an Associate Program Director
of the LAC + USC Neurosurgery Residency Program. His clinical
expertise is in minimally invasive and endoscopic cranial and skull
base tumor surgeries. Dr. Zada completed his residency training at
USC, and fellowship in Endoscopic Skull Base and Pituitary Surgery
at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He has
authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and serves on the
editorial board of The Journal of Neurosurgery and The Journal of
Neuro-Oncology. Philosophy of care: Requiring a visit to a
neurosurgeon or undergoing a neurosurgical operation can be one of
the most frightening and life-changing experiences a person will
ever have. Placing myself in the patient's shoes is the most
important thing I can do to provide the best advice and care for
any patient and family member with whom I interact. I believe in
providing the safest and most effective care for my patients,
founded on the principles of evidence-based medicine, research and
the latest techniques available. My goal is to offer the safest and
most effective surgical procedures for patients until we reach our
goal of developing a cure for every subtype of malignant and benign
brain tumor. About Dr. Raj Dr Raj is a quadruple board certified
physician and associate professor at the University of Southern
California. He was a co-host on the TNT series Chasing the Cure
with Ann Curry, a regular on the TV Show The Doctors for the past 7
seasons and has a weekly medical segment on ABC news Los Angeles.
