John 3:1-21 • New Birth

Joel McCarty • Nicodemus came to Jesus wanting to know how his
status in the Kingdom of God could be enhanced. But Jesus sees
into the heart of man, and he challenges Nicodemus that entrance
into the Kingdom is based not on ethnicity, pedigree, or
theological prowess. Entrance into God's Kingdom must be
predicated by new birth, which is wrought only through the work
of Jesus by the Spirit in our lives. This is why God sent Jesus
into the world - to save sinners. The gospel is not a formula to
be followed, but a truth to be proclaimed and believed.
