Enuff Z' Nuff is a band from the late 80s formed in Chicago by
current bass player and vocalist Chip Z' Nuff and former
vocalist Donnie Vie, that in my opinion never got a fair shake.
They may or may not have contributed to their own trials and
tribulations through sex, drugs, alcohol, and bad decisions, but no
matter the issues and who was to blame, the bottom line was they
wrote freaking great songs. Enuff Z' Nuff had a great mixture
of fantastic melodies, huge hooks, lush harmonies, and hard rocking
guitars. With a feel straight out of the Beatles catalog, but with
their own spin, they were a power pop band at heart that were
lumped into the hair metal category with many others from that era.
Growin' Up Rock attended a local concert and sat down with
Chip Z' Nuff after soundcheck to talk about his and the bands
early days. We talk about how a visit to the Howard Stern show
changed the path of the band and we get insight into the current
band lineup. Chip gives us exciting news about a brand new upcoming
release "Diamond Boy" due out in June on Frontiers Records. The
band played a fantastic set that night on the bill with Junkyard,
and The all female tribute band "The Iron Maidens" Chip looked
right at home as the frontman and sounded great singing all the old
material. The rest of the band, Tony Fennell: Guitar, Tory
Stoffregen: Guitar, and Dan Hill: Drums were tight and all great
players in their own right. The Friday night crowd was treated to
the following set: Baby Loves You Kiss The Clown Heaven Or Hell In
The Groove Solo Section Jean Genie (Bowie Cover) Fly High Michelle
New Thing Dog On A Bone Wheels If the band comes to your
neighborhood, make sure you get out there and support them and any
other killer rock n roll bands that are out there playing each and
every night. Help keep Rock n Roll alive by supporting live and
recorded music. Everyone’s got a Rock N Roll story to tell, so tell
