The former Hewlett-Packard executive announced the decision on Facebook Wednesday after finishing seventh in New Hampshire's primary.


DNC, RNC chairs weigh in on prospect of Bloomberg run

The leaders of the Republican and Democratic national committees on Wednesday weighed in on the prospect of an independent presidential run by Michael Bloomberg.

DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz suggested that the former New York City mayor's priorities are already "well cared-for" in the Democratic platform, while RNC leader Reince Priebus welcomed the idea, saying Bloomberg would siphon off votes from the Democratic candidate.

The billionaire recently told the Financial Times he found "the level of discourse and discussion distressingly banal and an outrage and an insult to the voters," and that he was "looking at all the options."

With two nominating contests gone and outsider candidates like Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump -- the two winners in New Hampshire -- looking like legitimate contenders, the likelihood of a Bloomberg bid could be growing.

Sanders campaign raised $5.2 million after New Hampshire polls closed

Bernie Sanders raised $5.2 million in the 18 hours since the polls closed in New Hampshire, his campaign said Wednesday.

The large haul, which bests the $3 million he raised after his narrow loss to Hillary Clinton in Iowa, is further evidence of the digital fundraising juggernaut his campaign has built.

The Sanders campaign said Wednesday that $2.6 million of that haul had been raised in just the four-and-a-half hours after he was declared the winner in New Hampshire.
