Matthew Adams has been part of the German BeerAcademy's team of
lecturers for several years, but he has been working as head of the
excavation in Abydos, Egypt, for much longer. There he has been
working for some time on researching what is probably the oldest
industrial brewery in the world. It is more than 5,000 years old
and would easily be able to compete with a medium-sized brewery
today. But the beer was not intended for drinking, it served as a
sacrifice to the gods. Meet Matthew and his discovery in this
