Sandals Made in Europe

This is a first for the Barfußschule: our very first
podcast episode recorded entirely in English!

In this special episode, Ben Grümer and Per-Olof
Waßen talk to Jana from Bosky Shoes, a
Czech company dedicated to minimalist barefoot sandals.

We had the opportunity to test Bosky sandals ourselves – and we
really liked them. So we wanted to learn more: Who is
behind Bosky? What does it mean to manufacture minimalist
footwear in Europe? And where is the barefoot movement
heading?

Bosky’s story was inspired by minimalist footwear and the simple
concept of traditional Huarache sandals,
famously associated with the Tarahumara – or Rarámuri – people of
Mexico. From this inspiration, Bosky developed its own approach
to modern minimalist sandals, made in the Czech Republic.

Together with Jana, we talk about:

– what it means to develop and manufacture footwear in
Europe,

– local production, materials and supply chains,

– why Bosky decided to specialize in sandals,

– the barefoot movement in the Czech Republic and across
Europe,

– what we can learn from each other, and

– the present and future of barefoot shoes and natural movement.

It is a conversation about feet, movement, entrepreneurship,
European footwear production – and, above all, our shared passion
for helping people move more naturally.
