What is a “typical Swiss person” really like?
In this episode, I talk about the different mentalities in Switzerland — from Swiss German-speaking people to the Romands in the French-speaking part and the Ticinesi in the south.
We’ll talk about communication styles, work culture, social life, why Swiss people love rules… and of course the famous “Bünzli”
Transcripts: The Swiss German transcript of every episode was written by myself, by hand — because no software can truly capture the beauty of the dialect. Get it here.

One of the biggest myths I hear all the time: “You need to learn German first.”
I share why learning too much High German first can sometimes actually make Swiss German harder later on, and why starting early — even with just a few words — can make a huge difference.
I also tell the story of one of my students who went from being too afraid to speak Swiss German… to doing job interviews in Swiss German.

For many parents, the idea is clear: school, then university. But in Switzerland, there’s another path — one that is just as respected, full of opportunities, and chosen by most young people: apprenticeships.
In this episode, I share this system with you from a very personal perspective — not just as a teacher, but as a mum of two teenagers who are right in the middle of making these big life decisions.
