Thanks for everything!I really appreciate all the support you've shown me over the past year and a half, and I've had a great time making WebbAlert and sharing my love of technology. When I started WebbAlert, my TV show X-Play only taped three episodes a week so I had the time to dedicate my video blog. At the beginning of the year, X-Play expanded to five episodes, and the last year has been a lot of work trying to keep up with both projects. I finally decided that I need to make a little time for other opportunities, as well as make a little time for life itself. Thanks for understanding and I hope to bring you a number of new projects in the future!

I can't do a regular WebbAlert today, so instead, I thought I'd show you some of the great things I've found as I've traveled around the web. Today we're looking at wonderful transportation.

BMW was the hit of the Society of Automobile Engineers Show for introducing a prototype that barely emits any carbon monoxide at all. In fact, when you drive it, you're cleaning the air!

XP Vehicles is working on a balloon car that runs on batteries or fuel cells. Don't worry about it popping - it's made of the same material NASA uses for space landers.

Are you ready for the MicroFueler personal ethanol production system? In goes sugar and yeast, and out comes fuel grade ethanol.

Forget cars! Check out these concept bikes! Learn about catenaries!

Don't forget! I'm looking for your opinion on what drives you up the wall about technology. What's your pet peeve?

The Ballad of Black Mesa from LitFuse Films.

One of my favorite things about the Internet is that it allows a potentially large audience for the work of currently obscure artists, students, or just anyone with a good idea and a typepad account. Like this curtain that isn't even in production yet, but is already the darling of design blogs. It's embedded with magnets so it holds whatever shape you put it in.

A group of employees of the Takashimaya Department store in Tokyo's Shinjuku district have turned old Tokyo Metro tickets into a portrait of the classic anime character "Astro Boy."

Over in Dubai, architects are working to design the world's first building in motion. The eighty story skyscraper will be the first building made out of pre-fabricated units, and each floor will be able to rotate independently of the others. So when you look at this building, it will ripple and change shapes, and never be the same at any given time. Dramamine not included in the price of a unit.

How about a fully operational qwerty keyboard with beautiful designs splashed across their 86 keys? How can you resist something that is described as "The perfect keyboard to feel happy and witty?" It's expensive - but not as bad as other designs...

One place on the web you can always go to find wonderful design is Web Urbanist. Every day you'll find carefully curated posts that bring together topical images from disparate sources, like this extensive collection of three-D graffiti art found on sidewalks, walls, and galleries throughout the world. Or these amazing tree houses. You can also check out some amazing abandoned cities, without accidentally making a visit to Silent Hill.

Links: Tech Crunch's Layoff Tracker has now passed the 100,000 mark. Last week's biggest cuts came from Sony, Yahoo and CBS. I guess the silver lining is that soon there won't be anymore jobs to cut. Hooray.

A new survey has found that 20 percent of teens and 33 percent of young adults have posted nude or semi-nude pictures or videos of themselves on the Internet. The other 80 percent still just send them through the mail.

New details have emerged regarding Sony's new touchscreen Walkman. If it looks simliar to that other music player that starts with an "i" and ends with a "Pod," that's because it is, even though it does sport some unique features.

Intel's former boss Andrew Grove is urging the company to get into the electric car battery business. The company has also been dabbling in solar technology. Geez, you'd think the tech industry was in trouble or something.

The University of Virginia, and several others, have teamed up with several automakers to develop highly detailed digital representations of human bodies to be used in virtual crash tests. It looks like my crash test dummy video game is closer to fruition than ever.

The Japanese company NTT Communications is testing a new research procedure that monitors the effectiveness of billboard ads by video recording people who look at them. The good news is that you can stop worrying about billboards watching you. The bad news is that you were right to be paranoid because billboards are in fact watching you.

Gamers might not be ready to swap their next-gen consoles for an iPhone anytime soon, but that's not stopping Apple from viewing their hand held devices as serious contenders in the gaming industry. The next question is whether or not Mario should start sleeping with one eye open.

Sony has finally released its Second Life-ish virtual world Home for the PlayStation 3. It's still officially in beta form, but now everyone can now enjoy the simple pleasure of decorating their very own virtual apartment and being virtually socially awkward.

Google said at the LeWeb conference in Paris that it will bring its web browser Chrome out of beta sometime soon, perhaps even as early as tomorrow. This could pave the way for a pre-installation deal between Google and computer manufacturers. Can you say Internet Explorer vs. Netscape part two?

Google has started adding digitized copies of magazines to its Book Search database. Now you can find all of those New York magazine, Popular Science and Jet articles that you missed out on when they first appeared in print decades ago.

Movies have been disappearing from iTunes and Netflix at a fairly regulary rate. What could be behind this mysterious phenomenon? Well, if you guessed lisenecing disputes, you won't be that surprised.

TiVo's new Pause Menu service lets advertisers display ads whenever users pause live TV. I wish we could fast-forward to see if the new service helps TiVo win back subscribers, boosts the company's falling revenue and explains what the hell that smoke monster really is.

The NBA has teamed up with Turner sports to broadcast February 14's"NBA All-Star Saturday Night" in 3-D at 80 movie theaters around the country. Because nothing says "I love you" like watching a 3-D slam dunk contest with a theater full of strangers.

Starting next year, Hewlett-Packard will begin selling a new laptop battery that won't start degrading for three years. It can also be charged to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes. I've also heard it can solve crimes, but that sounds more like a half-truth.

Internet-only news publications are now eligible to receive Pulitzer Prizes for journalism. And no, there isn't a category for best blog dedicated to reenacting famous historical moments with rabbits. Sorry dad.

In the wake of last month's terrorist attacks in Mumbai, lawyers in India have filed suit to have Google Earth banned. They say the application, and others like it, are helping terrorists plot more efficient attacks.

Analysts predict that Wal-Mart could sell 4.5 million iPhones next year, matching the expected sales numbers at Apple retail stores. The $99 iPhone might be a pipe dream, but expect to see something nearly as enticing to get those sales numbers jumping.

Jimmy Fallon's new nightly video blog will document the lead up to his becoming the new host of Late Night on NBC. I've heard Fallon is also preparing by trying to get his hands on every copy of his movie Taxi, so he can dump them in the Hudson River.

Sony plans to cut 16,000 positions and close several of its plants, all to save a measly billion dollars a year...Oh, well that would do it.

The closest thing to a commercially available flying car will go on sale next year. If ever there was a reason to get a pilot's license and steal $200,000, this is it.

Surprise, surprise. Those rumors about Apple offering DRM-free music from the three major record labels on iTunes have turned out to be false. But that just means we can't start speculating that a deal could be announced at Apple's annual event next month.
