Internet-only news publications are now eligible to receive
Pulitzer Prizes for journalism. And no, there isn't a category for
best blog dedicated to reenacting famous historical moments with
rabbits. Sorry dad.
In the wake of last month's terrorist attacks in Mumbai, lawyers
in India have filed suit to have Google Earth banned. They say
the application, and others like it, are helping terrorists plot
more efficient attacks.
Analysts predict that Wal-Mart could sell 4.5 million iPhones
next year, matching the expected sales numbers at Apple retail
stores. The $99 iPhone might be a pipe dream, but expect to see
something nearly as enticing to get those sales numbers
jumping.
Jimmy Fallon's new nightly video blog will document the lead up
to his becoming the new host of Late Night on NBC. I've heard
Fallon is also preparing by trying to get his hands on every copy
of his movie Taxi, so he can dump them in the Hudson River.
Sony plans to cut 16,000 positions and close several of its
plants, all to save a measly billion dollars a year...Oh, well
that would do it.
The closest thing to a commercially available flying car will go
on sale next year. If ever there was a reason to get a pilot's
license and steal $200,000, this is it.
Surprise, surprise. Those rumors about Apple offering DRM-free
music from the three major record labels on iTunes have turned
out to be false. But that just means we can't start speculating
that a deal could be announced at Apple's annual event next
month.
