In einem Restaurant in Tokio bestellst du einen Hamburger. Dann
kommt der Kellner – und bringt dir eine Suppe. Aber das ist kein
Problem.
Hier ist das ganz normal. Alle Kellner in diesem Restaurant haben
Demenz. Sie vergessen oft die Bestellung.
Das Lokal heißt „Restaurant der falschen Bestellungen“. Ungefähr
ein Drittel der Bestellungen ist falsch. Aber fast alle Gäste sind
glücklich.
Die Idee kommt von Shiro Oguni. Er macht Sendungen für
das Fernsehen. Einmal hat er ein Heim für Menschen mit Demenz
besucht.
Dort hat er etwas Wichtiges verstanden. Viele Menschen denken: Mit
Demenz kann man nichts mehr machen. Aber das stimmt nicht.
Oguni will das zeigen. In seinem Restaurant arbeiten Menschen mit
Demenz. Sie reden, sie lachen, und sie gehören dazu.
Eine Kellnerin sagt: „Ich kann das noch.“ Die Arbeit gibt ihr Mut.

In a restaurant in Tokyo, you order a hamburger. Then the waiter
comes – and brings you a soup. But that's no problem. Here that's
completely normal. All the waiters in this restaurant have
dementia. They often forget the order. The place is called the
"Restaurant of Mistaken Orders." About a third of the orders are
wrong. But almost all the guests are happy. The idea comes from
Shiro Oguni. He makes programmes for television. Once he visited a
home for people with dementia. There he understood something
important. Many people think: with dementia you can't do anything
anymore. But that's not true. Oguni wants to show that. In his
restaurant, people with dementia work. They talk, they laugh, and
they belong. One waitress says: "I can still do this." The work
gives her courage. And the guests understand dementia better. In
the restaurant, the guests and the waiters laugh together. A wrong
meal becomes a beautiful moment. In the end, the right order isn't
