Oft trifft Hochwasser die Brdy-Region in Tschechien, und
Felder, Straßen und Gärten stehen unter Wasser. Die Menschen warten
auf Hilfe und hoffen auf Veränderung.Beamte planen einen
Hochwasserdamm an einer klaren Stelle am Fluss. Aber der Papierkram
zieht sich, Genehmigungen stocken, und deshalb wartet das Land
einfach.Anfang 2025 kommen acht Biber, und dann ändert sich alles.
Sie schwimmen den Fluss auf und ab, um einen Platz
zu wählen.Sie erkunden die Ufer und wählen genau
denselben Platz, den die Ingenieure geplant haben. Also beginnen
sie sofort mit der Arbeit.Sie fällen kleine Bäume und tragen Äste.
Danach stapeln sie das Holz hoch und drücken Schlamm in
die Lücken.Nach ein paar Nächten steht der Damm fest. Es gibt keine
Pläne und keine Besprechungen. Stattdessen zählen Teamarbeit
und Instinkt.Jaroslav Obermajer, ein örtlicher
Naturschutzbeauftragter, hört die Nachricht. Er fährt hin und
lächelt, denn die Natur löst das Problem und spart 1,2

Floods often hit the Brdy region in Czechia, and fields, roads, and
gardens go under water. People wait for help and hope for change.
Officials plan a flood-control dam at a clear spot on the river.
But the paperwork drags on, permits stall, and so the land just
waits. In early 2025, eight beavers arrive, and then everything
changes. They swim up and down the river to choose a place. They
scout the banks and pick the same spot the engineers planned. So
they begin their work at once. They cut small trees and carry
branches. After that, they stack the wood high and press mud into
the gaps. After a couple of nights, the dam stands strong. There
are no plans and no meetings. Instead, teamwork and instinct
matter. Jaroslav Obermajer, a local nature officer, hears the news.
He drives out and smiles, because nature solves the problem and
saves €1.2 million. If you ever feel stuck, maybe remember this
