Hopecast: Episode 4 - From Dream Job to Layoff – and the Journey Back to Oneself

In Episode 4 of She Did It – The Hopecast, Ariane Bischoff speaks
with Evelyn Ramforth, chemist, innovation expert, and EWMD member
based in Berlin. Evelyn shares a painful professional turning
point: after moving from Heidelberg to Berlin, full of excitement
for her dream job as head of an innovation lab, everything came
to an abrupt end just 18 months later – a layoff due to corporate
restructuring.


What followed was more than just a career crisis. Evelyn
describes the feeling of losing control, cultural tensions in an
international work environment – and the quiet question: Who am I
without a job?


But within that rupture lay the turning point. Evelyn found
grounding in her Berlin neighborhood, her church community,
CrossFit – and ultimately, on a solo hiking trip through Norway’s
fjords. There, the clarity emerged: it was time to turn her
passion for coaching into a profession.


Today, through her coaching practice Finding My Way, Evelyn
supports others through times of transition. Her story is a
powerful example of how letting go, deep reflection, and the
courage to redefine yourself can open up new paths – and that
personal worth is never defined by a job title.
