In this episode of "Empathy is Not a Utopia," we had an inspiring
conversation with Mary Gentile, the creator of Giving Voice to
Values. Mary discusses her innovative approach to values-driven
leadership development, highlighting a significant shift from
traditional ethics training. Traditional methods often emphasize
cognitive challenges and ethical reasoning, which, while important,
may not fully empower individuals to act on their values. In
contrast, Giving Voice to Values focuses on practical
implementation. It presents scenarios where individuals have
already decided on the right course of action and centers on how to
effectively and successfully enact those decisions. The program
aids individuals in developing scripts, action plans, and decision
trees, providing a structured method to navigate values conflicts.
This approach ensures that actions are taken in a manner that is
respectful, effective, and aligned with each person's strengths and
comfort levels. Tune in to explore how this transformative method
can empower you to voice and act on your values in both personal
and professional settings. Here are the LinkedIn profiles of our
