19 | Dave Stewart: «Art on Ice erinnert mich an Blues und Voodoo.»

Bestimmt merkt man mir an, wie aufgeregt ich war – seit
Jahrzehnten bin ich grosser Fan von Dave Stewart. Nicht nur wegen
seiner Pionierarbeit in Sachen Elektropop mit den frühen
Eurythmics Songs («Sweet Dreams (are made of this)», «Who's that
Girl?», Her Comes the Rain Again»), sondern auch für seine
späteren Songs wie «Jack Talking» oder «Happy to Be Here.»
Dave Stewart traf ich nicht – wie sonst in diesem Podcast
– in meinem Studio, sondern im Hotel Hyatt am Flughafen
Zürich. Grossen Dank an das Team von «Art on Ice» für die
Vermittlung! Ich sprach mit ihm über seine Vorfreude auf sein
bevorstehendes Engagement bei Art on Ice im Februar 2024. Er
teilt seine Begeisterung für Live-Auftritte und erzählt von
seiner Erfahrung als Musiker und Produzent und Songschreiber für
andere grosse Musiker wie Boby Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger,
Bryan Ferry und Joss Stone. Dave Stewart erklärt, wie er auf die
Idee kam, das «Eurythmics Songbook» zu erstellen und welche
Bedeutung seine Songs für ihn haben. Er erinnert sich an die
Entstehungsgeschichten hinter den Liedern und die besonderen
Momente, die damit verbunden sind.

tell how excited I was - I've been a big fan of Dave Stewart for
decades. Not only because of his pioneering work in electropop
with the early Eurythmics songs ("Sweet Dreams (are made of
this)", "Who's that Girl?", Her Comes the Rain Again"), but also
for his later songs such as "Jack Talking" or "Happy to Be Here."
I didn't meet Dave Stewart in my studio – as I usually do in this
podcast – but at the Hotel Hyatt at Zurich Airport. Big thanks to
the "Art on Ice" team for arranging this! I spoke to him about
his anticipation for his upcoming engagement at Art on Ice in
February 2024. He shares his enthusiasm for live performances and
talks about his experience as a musician and producer and
songwriter for other great musicians such as Boby Dylan, Stevie
Wonder, Mick Jagger, Bryan Ferry and Joss Stone. Dave Stewart
explains how he came up with the idea of creating the "Eurythmics
