Most people find out what's wrong with a deal after they've signed it. Johnny Quattro and Steve Walshe get paid to find it first.

Johnny Quattro spent thirty years building, failing and rebuilding businesses before he set up Goodrich Partners, a due diligence firm built to do the digging most investors never get around to. Steve Walshe built the analysis engine behind it, the technology that scores a business across financials, founder history, exposure and sector analyses before anyone puts money on the table.

Sam first came across Johnny years ago. That conversation has now turned into a formal partnership. Goodrich is the analytical and intelligence layer underneath every deal that comes through The Rural Bridge, pulling apart what a pitch deck won't show you before Sam brings an opportunity to the community.

In this episode, Sam sits down solo to walk through what The Rural Bridge is. The bloke who walked away from the drilling industry, and the business he built out of what he learned on the other side of it.Sam talks about the light bulb moment on the Gold Coast after he stepped away from drilling. A book his mate put in his hands, and the realisation that he'd spent his entire working life on the left-hand side of the equation; Trading time for money, working harder, pushing more, exactly the way most rural people are raised to.He talks about the gap he saw sitting between rural people and the wealth strategies most of them never get exposure to. Not because they aren't capable, but because they don't have the time, the rooms, or the trust in that world to go deeper. He talks about being one of those blokes himself, and the moment he decided to become the person who could do the due diligence and bring the opportunities back.Sam talks about the parallel journey he was on at the same time. Six years and over three hundred thousand dollars spent on mindset, psychology, men's work, blood work, leadership, wealth mastery, and mentoring. The moment he realised money on its own was never going to be enough. And how the three pillars, money, health and relationships, became the foundation of everything he now teaches. This is the story of why The Rural Bridge exists, what it took to build it, and where it's going next.Follow The Rural Bridge on Instagram and Facebook @rural__bridge, and connect with Sam Ferrier on LinkedIn.www.theruralbridge.com

In this episode, Sam sits down with his little sister Amelia Boileau, clinical nurse and new mother from Roma, and walks back through the years that made her: the freedom of a Roma childhood as the only sister to two brothers, boarding school at Toowoomba Prep and St Margaret's, five years in ICU at Princess Alexandra Hospital, and the day a patient's brain came out of his head and landed in her hands and she knew she was done.

They talk about hitting 30 with none of the milestones ticked, sitting on her brother's kitchen floor and crying about it, and the notepad she pulled out to write ten things down about the partner she actually wanted.

They talk about Gus arriving two months later, the wedding, and the daughter she'd wanted for a decade. They talk about the disconnection she couldn't explain and the shame that kept it hidden longer than the disconnection itself. They talk about the isolation of a beautiful rural property, the 10 days in Roma that were the best of her life, and a simple coffee with another human being as the thing that fills her cup.

They talk about the invisible calendar rural women are handed, the village they no longer have, and Sam's honest reflection on losing 50% of the woman he married when the first child arrived. They talk about the nervous system side of motherhood, the 60-day challenge with Gus before the wedding, and what Amelia has learned about presence as the thing her daughter actually needs, community as what the property alone cannot give her, and the safe place she's chosen to become.

Talk about it before it becomes shame. Fill your cup so your family gets the version of you they need. What's meant to be for you is meant to be.

For most people, success is the story of how much harder you were willing to work. This is the story of what happens when hard work is the thing that breaks you.

In this episode, Sam sits down with Tom Kerr, Tamworth electrician and founder of TDK Electrical, and walks back through the years that made him: the Wee Waa upbringing surrounded by a family of eleven electricians, running multi-million dollar construction projects at 27, building his own house after hours with his partner Jenna to save the money, and the mental breakdown that finally forced him to stop.

They talk about the couple of years spent climbing back, the version of him that was doing everything he'd been raised to do and paying for it in places nobody was looking, and Jenna who held the line while he rebuilt. They talk about the bees, not as a business but as the thing that made him slow down and reconnect, and the quiet work of putting himself back together before he went near the tools again.

They talk about starting TDK Electrical with ten thousand dollars, nine years without running a single ad, and every apprentice he's ever put on still working for him. They talk about bringing two long-term staff on as shareholders while the business is at its peak, why goodwill is worth nothing and systems are worth everything, and doing the succession conversation now instead of waiting until sixty-five to sell up like most rural business owners do.

They talk about the head-down, work-hard, build-it-yourself paradigm passed down through their fathers, the version of it being broken in this generation, and what Tom has learned about presence as the thing his daughter actually needs, structure as what gives a business the right to outlast you, and slowing down before something makes you.

Build what outlasts you. Do the succession conversation while you're still standing. Family's the point.

For most people, becoming a father is the story of getting ready for it. This is the story of what you didn't know you weren't yet.

In this episode, Sam sits down with his oldest mate and walks back through the years that made him: the rural childhood most kids won't get to have again, the mine wages that came in too young and taught him what money without structure actually costs, and the concrete truck rolled at a 100km an hour that finally shifted what he chose to worry about.

They talk about the first years of fatherhood, the version of him that was present in the ways that were easy to measure and absent in the ways that mattered, and the wife who carried the slack while he caught up. They talk about the 250 acres bought on their limit, the container home built by hand, and the childhood being handed down again. They talk about six months off the drink, the addiction that wasn't quite an addiction, and what opens up when the stop button finally works.

They talk about the paradigms passed down through their fathers, the ones being broken in this generation, and what Brendan has learned about presence as the thing that matters most, structure as what catches income before it slips, and discomfort as the thing you have to walk into before it makes you.

Lean into the discomfort. Enjoy what you've got. Family's everything.
