On April 12th, 2016 something was happening in 16 year old Mekayla Bali's life, but that's about all we know for sure. She did get dropped off at school, but she didn't attend classes. Instead she walked a twisted route around town, making a series of puzzling stops along the way, each one piling mystery upon mystery until mid afternoon when her trail simply ends. Now, six years later her loved ones are still attempting to follow the clues left behind in hopes they lead to Mekayla. Long time listeners of Nighttime will remember Mekayla's story as her mother Paula joined us shortly after the first anniversary of her disappearance but since then there have been considerable updates, developments, and listener requests for a follow up. In this episode of Nighttime, I'll be joined by Canadian Crime video creator Madalayne Klein to revisit and provide updated details on disappearance of Mekayla Bali. April 12, 2016, 16 year old Mekayla Bali failed to meet her ride home from her Yorkton, SK high school. It was then discovered Mekayla never attended classes that day, despite having been dropped off at the school earlier that morning. Over a year later, Mekayla has yet to be located and her family knows little more than they did that day. Investigators were able to build a timeline of her unusual activities that day, but the information contained only creates more questions... most notably where did she go after 1:45pm and why? In the early morning hours of November 25, 2012, 3rd year Mount Allison student Chris Metallic ended a night of partying with friends.  A belly full of alcohol played a part in his decision to leave the party, and certainly played a part in him leaving his shoes and wallet behind… that was going to be a problem to solve the next morning. Wearing borrowed sandals Chris just wanted to go home and sleep it off.  Over 10 years later.. Chris still hasn't arrived home and the trail he left behind doesn't offer much to go on. In this episode of Nighttime, I’m joined by Canadian Crime video creator Madelayne Klein to discuss the disapperance of Chris Metallic.  Episode Links: Chris Metallic Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/BringChrisMetallicHome Madelayne’s Chris Metallic video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzdSjqUUOnY Links: Missing in Canada Series: https://www.nighttimepodcast.com/keep-canada-weird Missing in Canada Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/missingincanada make a case suggestion: https://www.nighttimepodcast.com/contact Provide feedback and comments on the episode: nighttimepodcast.com/contact Subscribe to the show: https://www.nighttimepodcast.com/subscribe Musical Theme: Noir Toyko by Monty Datta Contact: Website: https://www.nighttimepodcast.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/NightTimePod Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NightTimePod Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nighttimepod Support the show: https://www.patreon.com/nighttimepodcast Learn more about your ad choices. At some point during the early morning of July 5, 2004, 5 year old Tamra Keepness seems to have simply vanished from her home. The facts of that evening, as well as the behaviours of the adults responsible for Tamra's care, are more than a bit hazy. Alcoholism, drug abuse, sex work, and domestic violence all find their way into Tamra's last known night and all obscure the trail she left behind. But if one thing is for certain, it's that Tamra’s family has far from given up on her. In this episode of Nighttime, I'll be joined by Canadian crime video creator Madelayne Klein to discuss the disappearance of Tamra Keepness. In Keep Canada Weird Jordan and his pal Aaron Airport TYPICALLY seek out and explore offbeat Canadian news stories from the past week. However in tonight's episode, which was recorded on the moonlit evening of October 16th, 2022, the series was overtaken by the Halloween spirit and as a result our attention turned to one of Canada's weirdest and perhaps most TERRIFYING events. In my opinion, Halloween is the most wonderful time of the year. For a few weeks in October, even your grandmothers favorite drug store is selling Skull shaped coffee mugs and blood splattered napkins. What's not to love about that? With the world temporarily embracing horror and darkness I decided to do the same here at Nighttime and fortunately, there are many spooky listeners of this show. It's to them I turn to tonight. So pour a drink, dim the lights, and get cozy. Tonight, in this Nighttime Halloween special, we are going to hear from a collection of Nighttime listeners who will share their encounters with THE BEYOND. What started with photos, showing a high school teacher wearing very large prosthetic breasts, going viral online quickly evolved into international news coverage and now, like seemingly every hot topic that affects society, has devolved into disorganized protesting and public gatherings. Trafalgar High School has become the venue for protestors who are against all sorts of things, the wood shop teacher’s form of gender expression included. Fortunately for interested Nighttime listeners, we have a friend who went there and documented it all. We first heard from Toronto based lawyer and guerilla journalist Caryma S'ad during our series covering Queen Romana's Siege of the Peterborough Police Station. She graciously agreed to join us again, this time to discuss the Oakville Trafalgar High School Protest and the very large breasts at the heart of it.
