This episode focuses on the last presidential Chancellor of the
Weimar Republic: General Kurt von Schleicher. An officer who
spent most of his career in the General Staff, he had been part
of President Hindenburg’s inner circle since 1926, working behind
the scenes to establish an autocratic republic. He successfully
intrigued against Chancellors Müller, Brüning, and von Papen —
only to be toppled himself by a plot in the end. Was he a
trailblazer for Adolf Hitler, or the Weimar Republic’s last
chance?
