The Career Path I Didn’t Take

For years, I was clear about the direction I wanted my software
engineering career to take: stay technical, grow into
architecture, and avoid the manager or team lead path.


But looking back, I sometimes wonder whether I chose that path
because it was truly right for me or because leadership felt
uncomfortable.

technical careers, leadership without titles, the identities
engineers create for themselves, and the doors we may close
before we are ready to explore them.
