In this episode, I'll be introducing Chancellor Heinrich Brüning.
For a long time, the question was raised whether he was the first
gravedigger of the Weimar Republic or its last hope. I would
argue that both are true – he was its first gravedigger, but also
its last hope. However, a Weimar Republic that survived under
Brüning would have had a completely different character. But more
on that later.
