This episode contains descriptions of violence during the
suppression of protests in Iran. Listener discretion is
advised – jüngeren oder sensibleren Schüler:innen wird empfohlen,
die Folge nicht zu hören.
In this episode, Aylin and Mark offer insights into the extremely
difficult situation facing the Iranian population in times of
protest, resistance and repression. Aylin talks about growing up
in Iran, the lack of freedom in everyday life, the role of
religion and state control, the economic hardship many people
face, and the fear surrounding protests, surveillance and
repression. She also reflects on the differences between life in
Iran and Germany.
Mark, who also had to leave his homeland, asks thought-provoking
questions and together they explore what it means to leave one’s
home behind, how young people in Iran experience pressure and
hopelessness, and why the voices of those affected must be heard.
