  4. SCP-096, SCP-682 and the Worst Ways to Die | SCP Explained
Deep beneath Site-19, Dr. Miriam Vale is assigned to review a
sealed Foundation mortality archive known as The Unkind Death
Index. Its files document endings so unusual, prolonged, lonely,
or uncertain that the Foundation cannot always determine where
death occurred, when it began, or whether the person involved has
truly stopped existing.

The archive contains the quiet records of people pursued after
accidentally seeing SCP-096’s face, personnel kept alive beyond
the point where survival remained merciful near SCP-682, and
civilians who spent so many years inside SCP-3008 that the
outside world became little more than a fading memory. Other
files describe victims lost within SCP-106’s pocket dimension,
patients transformed by SCP-049’s idea of a cure, and people
trapped by anomalous images, erased names, or single moments
stretched across impossible spans of time.

Rather than ranking these deaths by violence, Dr. Vale studies
what makes each one uniquely unkind. Some remove choice. Some
remove home, identity, shared time, or the certainty needed for
grief. Others leave a body without the person, a voice without a
location, or a name that no one can remember. As the review
continues, the archive itself begins displaying signs that it may
be learning how to classify the person reading it.

This episode plays over a fully black screen so you can set your
phone down, close your eyes, and drift into deep, uninterrupted
sleep without screen light filling the room. It is built for
quiet nighttime listening, dark-room rest, and a slow SCP
sleep-story experience that allows the unsettling details to
unfold gently in the background.

What to expect: calm documentary narration, slow pacing, soft
ambient atmosphere, Foundation incident logs, D-class records,
survivor interviews, restrained descriptions with no graphic
focus, no sudden noises, no loud jump scares, and a reflective
ending designed to fade softly into sleep.

Podcast-Folgen verschwinden.
