(EN) Episode 52 - The elections in the Soviet Occupied Zone (SOZ) in 1946

In this episode, I want to talk about the first post-war
elections in East Germany in 1946. These elections are special
because they were the only relatively free elections held in East
Germany until 1990. I'll explain what I mean by "relatively free"
later. Despite the problems, these elections provide a fairly
accurate snapshot of public opinion and can therefore help answer
the following question: Did the people of East Germany at that
time really want communist rule — or something else?
