In this episode of Afrikanische Geschichte, we travel to
colonial Kenya to understand how the Mau Mau Rebellion began.

Long before violence reached the headlines, Kenyan
communities—especially the Kikuyu—were losing their land, their
freedom of movement, and control over their own lives. British
colonial rule promised development, but for many Africans it
brought dispossession, forced labor, and silence.

Through the story of secret oaths taken in the forest, this
episode introduces the deeper causes of the Mau Mau uprising. It
asks an important question: What happens when people are
left with no peaceful way to be heard?

This episode sets the foundation for the entire series, exploring
land, power, resistance, and the human cost of empire—told in a
clear, narrative style for listeners around the world.
