The first submarine that was sunk by an aircraft was the French
Brumaire-class submarine Foucault. But would I ask when this
happened, I bet many would guess World War 2. However, this
happened in 1916 - and the aircraft that sunk it were
Austro-Hungarian flying boats of the Type Lohner L.
