Outstanding universities are a source of research and innovation
in the United States. Bright young people from all over the world
used to dream of attending American elite universities. Not any
more. The Trump administration considers Harvard and other
institutions of higher education as liberal adversaries. 
Foreign students, an important source of income for universities,
feel rejected.   Billions of dollars of grants and
federal contracts are frozen. Political activism is attacked as
antisemitic. What does this assault on the famous elite
universities mean for the education system as a whole? How
efficient is the resistance against the threats from Washington
DC? How successful are the attempts of the administration to
create a climate of intimidation and to lead America in an
authoritarian direction?
