#32 with Max Thinius: Better Together

Futurologist Max Thinius will be one of the keynote speakers at
our buildingSMART International Summit 2025, which will take
place in Berlin from September 22 to 24, 2025. He will talk about
the future of construction – a future full of opportunities, if
we want to see them and perceive them together – in line with the
summit motto “openBIM – Better Together.”


According to Max Thinius, only 16 percent of our prospects are
negative, while 84 percent are positive. This raises the
question: Why do we always focus on the negative aspects? Max
Thinius invites us to change our perspective and suggests putting
optimism at the center of our thoughts about the future.


With regard to the digitalization of the construction industry,
Max Thinius sees the sector facing profound changes: artificial
intelligence and intelligent infrastructures will make our
environment more supportive and interactive; buildings will no
longer be just static structures from the industrial age, but
intelligent spaces that promote connections, create new
opportunities, and even generate value. This requires data.
Without it, buildings lose their potential.
