Special: Palestinian Perspectives in Israel - Amal Oraby on Discrimination and hardships

In this episode, I speak with Amal Oraby, a Palestinian lawyer,
human rights activist, and writer based in Haifa. As one of
nearly two million Palestinian citizens of Israel, Amal dedicates
his work to exposing systemic discrimination affecting his
community — from housing rights and educational inequality to
social exclusion.


We talk about Sabra, a new magazine and podcast he co-founded in
Hebrew, aimed at Jewish-Israeli audiences. Amal explains why
language matters — and how Sabra seeks to challenge mainstream
narratives and create new cultural frameworks.


He reflects on segregation, media exclusion, and the kind of
Palestinian identity that is deemed “acceptable” in Israeli
public discourse. We also explore current debates within
Palestinian society in Israel and whether shared political
transformation is still possible — even after October 7.
