German Podcast Episode #173: Neha's 1st Solo Europe Trip to Bulgaria-Day #3 - 07-14 March 2020

Rahul: Hallo Zusammen, Willkommen zurück zu unserem Podcast. Hey
Neha, heute sprechen wir über deinen weiteren Tag in Warna.





Neha: Stimmt, Rahul, am 09. März 2020 begann ich meinen Tag mit
der Mariä-Entschlafens-Kathedrale. Sie ist eine schöne
ostorthodoxe Kathedrale und ist eigentlich die größte Kirche in
Warna.





Rahul: ich habe viel über die Kathedrale gehört. Erzähl uns mehr!





Neha: Es war friedlich und ruhig mit Ikonenwand, Bischofsthron
und einigen wirklich interessanten Wandmalereien und Glasgemälde.





Rahul: Klingt nach einem großartigen Start in den Tag. Was hast
du sonst noch gemacht?





Neha: Danach bin ich durch das Stadtzentrum zum Grand
Einkaufszentrum gegangen. Es gibt ein Retro-Museum dort und es
war faszinierend!





Rahul: Ein Retro-Museum? Das klingt cool! Was für Sachen hat es?





Neha: Oh, es hat die Ausstellungen aus der Zeit von 1944-1989,
also der kommunistischen Ära. Es war wie eine Zeitkapsel! Es gab
alte bulgarische Zigaretten ohne Filter, russische Staubsauger,
Haushaltsartikel aus Ostdeutschland, und sogar polnische
Kosmetik.





Rahul: Das ist so interessant! In unserer Reise von 2018 zum
Stasi Museum in Berlin, haben wir die Ausstelungen der Spionage
aus der Sowjetzeit gesehen. Hatte dieses Museum auch irgendwelche
antiken Autos?





Neha: Ja, es hatte! Der Star der Show war eine klassische "Chaika
GAZ-13"-Limousine. Sie wurde von den Politbüromitgliedern der
Kommunistischen Partei benutzt. Das Museum hatte auch viele
Wachsfiguren von großen Persönlichkeiten wie Todor Zhivkov,
Leonid Brezhnev und Fidel Castro.





Rahul: Wow, wir haben zusammen viele Wachsmuseen besucht wie das
Madam Tussauds in Wien!





Neha: Ja, Genau, und auch in Susdal in Russland!





Rahul: Wow, Susdal – wir haben so tolle Erinnerungen an unsere
Russlandreise im Oktober 2017!

Rahul: Hey everyone, welcome back to our podcast. Hey Neha, today
we talk about your yet another day in Varna.





Neha: Sure, Rahul, on 09. March 2020, I started my day with the
Dormition of the Mother of God Cathedral. It's a beautiful
Eastern Orthodox cathedral, and it's actually the largest church
building in Varna.





Rahul: I've heard a lot about the cathedral. Tell us more!





Neha: It was peaceful and serene with iconostasis, bishop's
throne, and some really interesting murals and stained glass.





Rahul: Sounds like a great way to start the day. What else did
you do?





Neha: After that, I walked through the city center and went to
the Grand Mall. They have a Retro museum there, and it was
fascinating!





Rahul: A Retro museum? That sounds cool. What kind of stuff did
it have?





Neha: Oh, it had exhibits from the period 1944-1989, in other
words the communist era. It was like a time capsule! There were
old Bulgarian cigarettes without filters, Russian vacuum
cleaners, household items from East Germany, and even Polish
cosmetics.





Rahul: That's so interesting. In our 2018 trip to the Stasi
Museum in Berlin, we saw Spy exhibits from the Soviet era. Did
this museum also have any antique cars?





Neha: Yes it did! The star of the show was a classic "Chaika
GAZ-13" limousine. It was used by the Politburo members of the
Communist Party. The museum also had many wax figures of great
personalities like Todor Zhivkov, Leonid Brezhnev, and Fidel
Castro.





Rahul: Wow, we have together visited many wax museums like the
Madam Tussauds in Vienna!





Neha: Yes, absolutely, and also in Suzdal, Russia!





Rahul: wow, Suzdal – we have such great memories of our Russia
trip of October 2017!
