In this episode host Sybille Straubinger engages with Tayo Alemi,
known as Authentically Plastic, a pioneering electronic DJ and
producer from Kampala, Uganda. Together, they delve into the
profound role of music and art as forms of resistance against
systemic oppression, particularly from the perspective of femme and
queer artists. As Uganda faces one of the world's harshest
anti-LGBTQ laws, Tayo reflects on their artistic journey, including
a series of club nights that opened up spaces for the community.
The conversation explores the interplay between creativity and
activism, highlighting how artistic expression can challenge
societal norms and foster resilience within marginalised groups.
