#10: Gabriella Chihan Stanley (VRISCH) on Virtual Experiences & Tech Ethics

This episode marks a premiere: We’re podcasting in English to
welcome Gabriella “Gabs” Chihan Stanley. Gabs comes from a
multicultural background - born in Paraguay to Syrian and British
immigrants, she's lived in the U.S., Barcelona, and now Vienna.
Like us, she is deeply engaged with future technologies: As an
award-winning XR director and producer, she runs the VR studio
VRISCH with her Austrian husband, Axel, creating virtual
experiences for clients such as the Austrian Federal Forests,
Wiener Prater, and the award-winning UK theatre company Les
Enfants Terribles.


 


"Technology is holistic," Gabs believes, and she's committed to a
tech sphere that's inclusive, respectful, and safe - a mission
she promotes through her roles as the founder of “XRVienna” and
as the Austrian Ambassador for “Women in Immersive Tech”. 


 


We speak with Gabs about the ethical responsibilities of the tech
industry, about privacy, transparency, and finding the balance
between innovation, risk, and regulation. We also discuss robot
cats, unexpected items in the work desk drawer - and Austrian
