#13 Rumi Von Baires – Ballroom Culture & Gaze

For this year's last episode of Nachtigall Podcast we  once
more switched to English, since we invited Rumi von Baires from
 Argentina. He lives in Vienna since 2016 and quickly made
his place in  the local scene by organising House Music
events like "A Party Called  Jack" and associations and
appearances with queer Viennese event  collectives like
Sisters and Malefiz.


Rumi von Baires is inspired  by the music of his ancestors
in Cape Verde, Blues and the vibrant New  York party scene,
still searching for the same energy in his new home  town
Vienna. The most recent output of the 38 year old DJ and
scientist  is the queer event series called "GAZE" at Club
Praterstraße. At  Nachtigall Podcast he talks about his
biography and his path to be a  psychologist and House Music
DJ in Vienna, his perspective on the local  scene and future
plans.
